A Sandler Partners Superstar was able to help a California school district rebuild an old PBX network with Jive by LogMeIn’s hosted voice solution so teachers and students could work remotely. Although the partner was initially engaged by the school district’s IT support to implement changes after a ransomware attack, the onset of the pandemic quickly shifted the district’s goal to enabling their schools for home learning — including the turn-up of 480 seats and counting.

Customer Profile:

  • Mountain View Los Altos School District
  • 5 total sites (1 District Office, 4 Schools)
  • 480 users

Challenges:

  • School had a ransomware attack
  • No active phone system
  • Zero records or access to their old PBX. The system would have to be rebuilt from scratch.
  • Only two on site staff members were present to help with rollout, and they would need additional assistance from Jive for implementation and rollout
  • One of the hardest parts was making sure pricing was co-op pricing since they’re a school district

Objective:

  • To get the school district up and running with PBX function after the ransomware attack
  • After the COVID-19 outbreak, the objective also shifted to set the school up remotely as people began to work from home

Engagement:

  • Partner introduced Sandler Superstar and power closer Tiffany Bagala to the customer’s IT support
  • Started working together immediately after the Ransomware attack, to mitigate damage and rebuild the network, and that is when they brought the agent in for the phones

Discovery:

  • Agent worked with their Director of Information Technology Services to identify their immediate and long term needs to ensure they were selecting a provider that could get them up and running very quickly, but that would also be the right choice for the rest of the schools and users

Solution:

  • Vonage, Logmein, and RingCentral were quoted
  • Vonage and Logmein got pricing the same day, response time was great and critical.
  • Client ended up going with Jive UCaaS – GoToConnect 194 seats @ $12.95/seat, low usage seats x 294 for classrooms (which may be upgraded now that the teachers will likely need GoToConnect for distance learning) at $9.95/seat. Jive Business Continuity with Analog Failover for each school.  Configuration and On-Site installation

Results:

  • 28 users were set up on month-to-month contract
  • 33 days later, we were able to get Resolution approval from the Board and signed the contract for 480 users

Customer Testimonial:

  • “My experience working with the agent is beyond amazing. From the very beginning, she was responsive, attentive, and solutions oriented. She listens carefully, asks all the right questions, and provides viable solutions. Upon selecting the best solution for our district, our relationship with the agent did not end; she has been part of every planning call, ensuring that all of the i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed. I truly feel you would be hard-pressed to find somebody as thorough as the agent; I’ve already recommended her to other contacts, and they have provided me with similar feedback.”

Payoff:

  • $5,097.55 was MRR – 5X SPIFF with 27% residual
  • Jive was able to protect the agent’s SPIFF by getting approval that if the customer moved forward with a long-term contract for all seats, they would honor the spiff and normal residual payout %

Next Steps:

  • The new focus is 27 ATA for faxes
  • Jive business continuity for failover
  • Client might add gotowebinar
  • Agent got referred to another school district that is about 4x bigger
