We are looking for a Marketing Copywriter/Content Writer who can develop concise, eye-catching, and innovative content for newsletters, collateral, ads, program guides, press releases, event invitations and summaries, and other marketing materials that are used to engage with Sandler’s partners, providers, and the Channel. Responsibilities include producing succinct marketing and educational copy for a variety of media, along with conducting research on industry-related technologies and topics to generate new and informative content. Working under the Marketing Manager and closely collaborating with the Marketing Director and Marketing team, the focus will be on quickly producing and delivering content that engages our audiences and increases brand awareness. This position is based in Redondo Beach, CA, candidates are ideally located within the LA metropolitan area.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creating concise, eye-catching, and innovative body copy that engages our target audiences and promotes our brand.
  • Writing in different voices across departments and for top executives in the company.
  • Researching industry-related topics (combining online sources, interviews, studies, etc.) and organizing facts and sources into engaging messages.
  • Brainstorming and collaborating closely with marketing, our knowledge teams, and other internal sources to capture new ideas, strategies, feedback, and edits.
  • Identifying gaps in our content and recommending new topics.
  • Preparing well-structured drafts for review and approval.
  • Proofreading and editing messages in preparation for publication.
  • Assisting leadership with producing content for presentations, training, and other related communications.
  • Providing ideas on ways to further promote content within our email blasts, on our social media channels, and through our Sandler Portal.
  • Ensuring all-around consistency in messaging (style, fonts, messages, and tone).

Competencies and Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp and translate ideas into concise content that can engage a wide variety of audiences.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a demonstrated ability to rapidly produce viable content and messaging for our target audiences.
  • Superior writing and editing skills in English. A command of English grammar, spelling, and sentence construction is essential, as is a wide vocabulary.
  • Excellent verbal and listening communication skills. Must have the ability to objectively work with many types of people, as well as engage and represent different points of view.
  • Well-developed skills in Microsoft Office Suite and other Windows-based and Mac computer applications. Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems (i.e., HubSpot, WordPress) is desirable.
  • Ability to accurately proofread work.
  • Must be motivated by high-energy sales environments with the ability to do independent work, team planning, and goal setting.
  • Must have a high level of integrity and discretion, with an ability to responsibly handle sensitive and confidential information.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required. An emphasis in Marketing, English, Journalism, or a related field is strongly preferred. Masters degree in communication, journalism, marketing or related field is a plus.
  • Two years of previous work experience as a Content Writer, Copywriter, or similar role is preferred. One year of experience is required.
  • Previous experience producing online content is required.
  • Previous experience in the technology space or a related industry is helpful but not required.
  • Demonstrated experience performing research using multiple sources.
